Frequently Asked Questions

What is Veterinary Physiotherapy?

Veterinary Physiotherapy can provide extra support after an injury or surgery, help your pet maintain fitness and athletic ability, or simply help them move more comfortably and confidently.

I work alongside your Veterinary Surgeon and with you to understand your pet as an individual and create a treatment plan that is right for them. My aim is always to keep your pet as comfortable and relaxed as possible while helping them get the most from their treatment.

Because every animal is different, I tailor each session to your pet and how they are feeling that day. I take time to assess how they move, check muscle symmetry, and identify any areas of tension, discomfort, or reduced mobility. Treatment may include massage therapy and other appropriate techniques to help improve comfort, movement and overall wellbeing.

Whether your pet is recovering from an injury, getting back to their favourite activities, managing an ongoing issue, or just needs a little extra support, Veterinary Physiotherapy can play an important part in helping them feel their best.

Do I need Veterinary Consent?

Under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966, Veterinary Physiotherapists must obtain consent from the animal's Veterinary Surgeon before providing treatment. We have a referral form for both Dogs and horses, available in the Referral Form section of the website. Alternatively, if you would prefer us to communicate directly with your veterinary surgery, we are more than happy to do so.

Is there anything I can do between appointments?

We will provide you with a Home Exercise Plan which will explain some exercises that you are able to do with inbetween sessions. If you feel that anything on the Home Exercise Plan is going to be, or is, too difficult for you to complete, please talk to us, and we can find an alternative exercise.
